About Us
Our story
Thanks for using and contributing to Caltech's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Database. The IDEA database is truly a collaborative effort. It is a living, public collection of all Caltech initiatives towards improving Caltech's diversity, equity, and inclusion at every level -- department, division, and institute. Community members can browse, filter, and sort through the database to find support and resources, get involved in an IDEA initiative, and collaborate with others working towards similar goals. The IDEA database began as a student-led initiative designed to help Caltech be transparent about its IDEA efforts, stay accountable for ongoing improvement, and celebrate its progress. It now stands as a CCID-managed resource. The database is currently hosted on Google Sheets, and any community member can add entries for initiatives they have been involved in through Google Forms!
This database was formed by Marcus Lee and Victoria (Tori) Lee in the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department to help the community find resources to support themselves and find ways to get involved in helping others. Over the years, GSC Diversity Committee representatives Mia de los Reyes, Michelle Qian, and Aida Behmard have taken on the role of maintaining the database, which is currently maintained by CCID staff.
